In 1988, Mary Ellen Budreau (pharmacist and director of Pharmacy at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital) and I (Craig Budreau, engineer working in Brampton) decided to find a little old-fashioned drug store we could run on our own. We found exactly what we wanted in the scenic village of Paisley in Bruce County (we’d never even heard of Paisley before then). So we packed up our two small children, Charlie and Emma and left the GTA.
In June, 1989 we took over the Rexall drug store of Ralph and Eileen Anderson. Since that time we have tried to maintain the old fashioned values of personal service, in a thoroughly modern pharmacy.
Since then our children have grown. Our daughter Emma studied Pharmacy at U of T and now works in our dispensary. In 2012 we bought the empty store next door and opened a gift store, more specifically, a game, puzzle and toy store called Pastime Goldmine, which is managed by our son Charlie. We are truly a family run business.
The building we occupy has had an intriguing history. Click below to read about it and see some images from the past.
